The athlete achieved her personal best of 1:54.61 last year in London.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her two-lap campaign with a win at the all-female Athlos event in NYC on Friday evening.

{The reigning Olympic champion, who secured third place at the World Championships recently, dominated an outstanding victory in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a year impacted by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and global silver winner Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) secured third place.

"I've barely raced this year so it was likely easier for me to compete and want to give it something," stated the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The women-only event filled the stadium in its second edition, introducing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and special crowns substituting standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is wed to the founder of Athlos Alexis Ohanian, was on hand to award the victors with their tiaras.

Last year's winners took home sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The competition also drew several top athletes, as Kenya's three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith K. won the mile, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, won the sprint double.
