Zambia's Daka Nets Stoppage-Time Leveler to Earn Zambia Versus Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Zambia's striker heads home late

The Leicester City forward ended a lengthy goal drought for Zambia with his late header in Casablanca.

Zambia's star striker emerged as the hero for Chipolopolo as his stoppage-time header earned a dramatic 1-1 share of the points against Mali at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Casablanca.

Mali Takes Early Control

Lassine Sinayoko had put Mali ahead around the hour mark in the Group A clash at the iconic Casablanca stadium, firing in from point-blank range after his initial attempt from a corner kick had been blocked.

Mali dictated the play and had an opportunity to go in front in the final moments of the first half after a Malian forward was brought down in the penalty area by Chipolopolo defender Matthews Banda.

El Bilal Toure stepped up for Mali but his low effort was superbly saved by Zambia shot-stopper Willard Mwanza.

Daka's Dramatic Intervention

Daka eventually salvaged a draw for the 2012 Afcon winners, who were largely overwhelmed by the aerial strength of the Malians until the defender's lofted cross was met by the striker.

Tournament Standings

The result leaves each team two points behind host nation the Atlas Lions in the group standings after Morocco won their opening game 2-0 against Comoros on Sunday.

Chipolopolo will stay in Casablanca to play their next game against Comoros on the coming Friday, while The Eagles travel to the capital for a crunch match against the host nation.
